What is an Advocacy Day?
Advocacy Day is an event to connect like-minded supporters with elected officials on topics, such as climate change, energy-related policy, or any sustainability issues.
Why do we need an Advocacy Day?
It is a "Day/Event" to educate policymakers on promoting sustainability in building design, construction, and operation.
The event also urges policymakers to speed up on current issues and legislations related to green industry market sectors, including the LEED standard (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
Present USGBC as a source for officials to engage in meaningful discussions or mission-driven projects.
Why should we join an Advocacy Day?
Advocacy Day helps participants connect with local and regional officials on the issue of sustainability. This event draws awareness, raises funds, or intends to change behaviors regarding specific sustainability-related matters.
What if we cannot join the Advocacy Day?
There are other ways to participate in this meaningful event, such as:
Write a letter and comment on social media.
Present a testimony, offer a speaking engagement
Support the Advocacy organizations
Get involved with the USGBC Advocacy working group.
Of note: The Advocacy Day varies by geographic location. Each state picks its unique day to represent the significance of such an event. Contact local USGBC chapter for more information.
